About the Programme

The Rwanda Agri-Biotech Programme — Cassava, Maize & Potato (RABP-CMP)

Programme Overview

The Rwanda Agri-Biotech Programme (RABP-CMP) is an initiative led by RAB in partnership with AATF, focused on improving staple crops through agricultural biotechnology. The program builds on earlier successes and conducts research through confined field trials (CFTs) across key agricultural regions including Nyagatare, Musanze, Rubona, Burera, Nyamagabe, and Cyabayaga.

Farmer-First Approach

This initiative is more than just a scientific pursuit, it's a farmer-first intervention designed to boost food security for over 500,000 smallholder households across Rwanda. • Science-driven innovation tailored to local farming needs • Collaboration with research institutions, government, and private sector partners • Strong emphasis on biosafety and regulatory compliance • Farmer inclusion from research to adoption

Multidisciplinary Approach

Through its multidisciplinary approach, the RABP-CMP connects stakeholders from research institutions, government agencies, private sector players, and farming communities.

Programme Benefits

RABP-CMP is not just about research. It is about delivering practical biotech solutions that improve productivity, resilience, and livelihoods across Rwanda.
